Simon Hooper will be the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Everton on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.30pm GMT).

This will be the Swindon-born official's second game involving the Magpies this term after overseeing Newcastle's 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in December. Hooper handed out two yellow cards that day, apologetically booking Miguel Almirón for the Paraguayan's celebration following his first goal in Newcastle colours as well as defender Fabian Schär.

The 37-year-old has taken charge of 16 games this term in the Premier League, Championship, Carabao Cup and FA Cup, handing out 61 yellow cards and 2 reds in total.

Hooper, who was promoted to the Select Group of Referees in 2018, was the man in the middle for Newcastle's 2-0 home defeat to Leicester City - his only game involving United last term - and, despite showing no cards, awarded a penalty for the Foxes which was converted by striker Jamie Vardy.

On Tuesday, Hooper will be assisted by Derek Eaton and Philip Dermott while Mike Dean will be the fourth official. Anthony Taylor will be the video assistant referee and will be aided by Andy Halliday.
