Sammy Ameobi scored his first league goal for Bolton - and second of the season in all competitions - as the Trotters beat Millwall in League One on Tuesday night.

The winger picked up the ball outside the box in the third minute of the game and unleashed a powerful drive to give his side the lead. He was replaced in the 69th minute.

Elsewhere in League One, Jamie Sterry played the full game as Coventry climbed off the bottom with a 2-1 win against Oxford. He was booked.

Shrewsbury replaced the Sky Blues at the foot of the table, with Ivan Toney returning from suspension for the Shrews as they lost 3-0 to Sheffield United. The frontman was shown another yellow card.

Haris Vuckic played for 81 minutes as Bradford drew 1-1 with Southend while in the Championship, Adam Armstrong was unable to play against his parent club as Newcastle won 2-0 at Barnsley.

On Wednesday, Siem de Jong was in Champions League action for PSV but his side were beaten 4-1 by Bayern Munich.
