Rolando Aarons played the final game of his loan spell at Czech side Slovan Liberec on Saturday as they signed off for the winter break with a 0-0 draw at Bohemians 1905.

The winger started at the Dolicek Stadium, playing 90 minutes for Zsolt Hornyak’s men before being replaced in the dying moments of the contest.

That stalemate in the Czech First League brought the curtain down on Aarons’ half-season loan spell, and the player is now due to return to Tyneside on 1st January.

In total, the 23-year-old played 13 games for the Modrobili, who he leaves in eighth place in the division as domestic competitions are paused until February.

Elsewhere, Henri Saivet also featured in a goalless draw, for Bursaspor away to Goztepe. The Senegalese midfielder played 88 minutes of the contest, but couldn’t help his side find a winner.

In the Championship, Dwight Gayle played the whole game as West Brom moved into third place with a 2-1 win at Sheffield United on Friday night.

But it was an afternoon to forget for Dan Barlaser, as Accrington Stanley were beaten 3-0 at Southend United in League One. The midfielder played 90 minutes for John Coleman’s side, but fellow loanee Luke Charman wasn’t in the squad.

And Josef Yarney also played the entirety of Morecambe’s League Two game at Lincoln City, but couldn’t prevent the Shrimps from suffering a 3-1 defeat.
