Eddie Howe's side revert to Premier League action this weekend after reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Tuesday night, following a 2-0 win against Leicester City at St. James' Park, and this will be the second time Jones has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies this term.

The Merseyside official was the man in the middle for United's 1-0 home win against Chelsea in November and booked seven players during a lively encounter on Tyneside, including Newcastle's Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff.

Jones, who made his Premier League debut as a referee in December 2019, has handed out a total of 55 yellow cards so far this term but is yet to brandish a red card in the 15 games officiated across the Premier League, Championship, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
