Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has been named Carabao Cup Player of the Round after his displays against Arsenal in the semi-finals.

The Magpies beat the Gunners 4-0 on aggregate, winning 2-0 in both the away and home legs, with the Swedish international sweeping United into the lead in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

That neat finish from Jacob Murphy's lay-off opened the scoring in the capital, and the frontman was again on target in the second leg - though that thumping effort was ruled out for offside.

Isak - who featured in the final two years again when Eddie Howe's side were pipped to the trophy by Manchester United - will hope to find the target once more at Wembley on Sunday when the Magpies face Liverpool in this year's final.

United's leading goalscorer has played in all but one of Newcastle's Carabao Cup fixtures this term, and also struck in the 2-0 fourth round victory over Chelsea at St. James' Park.
