The Magpies conclude their pre-season campaign this weekend by welcoming UEFA Champions League opposition to St. James' Park, with Girona and Stade Brestois both finishing in third place of La Liga and Ligue 1 respectively last season.
And Osula, who joined the club from Sheffield United on Thursday, could be in line for his Magpies debut as Howe's side face Girona in a friendly fixture on Friday, 9th August (kick-off 7.30pm BST) before aiming to retain the Sela Cup crown when hosting Stade Brestois on Saturday, 10th August (kick-off 4pm BST) in 'The Sela Weekender'.
Here are some of the boss' main talking points from the pre-match press conference at the club's new Media Centre on Thursday morning.
On the arrival of Osula, who joined Newcastle from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee on Thursday:
"A player that I've known since Jason (Tindall)'s time at Sheffield United. We've been tracking his career for the last three years and is a player that really excites us.
"He's got some really raw ingredients to become a very good centre forward. He's got extreme pace, a really good physical profile, verging on 6'4", and he's got good technical skills as well.
"There's areas of his game to develop but I think he's coming to the right place to do that."
On Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier, who both returned to training on Tuesday following their involvement with England at the 2024 European Championship finals:
"I think they needed it (the extended break). It was essential we gave them a mental break from the rigours of football and all the pressures that come with it.
"They've come back in really good shape, trained very well in the last few days and I'm very happy with them. They will, fingers crossed at this moment, be involved at the weekend.
"I think (Anthony), the first few days, has been exceptional. The focus has been on his work, fitness and everything to do with this football club, with nothing else and no distractions. He's been really impressive."
On targets for the upcoming season:
"We have to have high expectations of ourselves. We have to push ourselves internally. I think it's slightly different when you're in my position because, yes, you can have your targets but nothing is going to be given to you. You have to earn the right to get to that point.
"We have a very difficult Premier League season ahead. The competition is so high so we have to improve from last year.
"We've been working hard in pre-season to improve certain aspects of our play and, hopefully, that shows by the time we kick off and we can build consistency and confidence in our game early."
On the player's availabilities for this weekend's double-header against Girona and Stade Brestois:
"It's probably the most difficult year for us to do this but we do believe in trying to give people as close as we can to 90 minutes the week before the season starts.
"The only way to do that is to have two games because you have a squad and, numbers-wise, that's the way it works. This year is slightly different because we have players coming back in different stages.
"We have to manage the minutes well but, also, the majority of the players have to be ready to play 90 minutes against Southampton in a week's time. This is an important weekend for us."
On the injury status of Callum Wilson and Matt Targett:
"We hope Matt will train next week. We haven't seen him for a long, long time so that will be a big lift for him and for us. Hopefully, that return to training goes very well.
"Callum's a bit further behind but not too long. His recovery is going very well. He's very positive and it's not a long-term injury. He's had an injection in his back, which feels really good, but there is a timescale before he can return.
"I don't think he'll make the Southampton game but he'll be back for the early games of the season."
