United have been back in pre-season training this month as Becky Langley looks to get her side ready for their upcoming campaign in England's second tier.
The Lasses secured back-to-back promotions last season and will play in the FA Women's Championship this campaign, with manager Langley recruiting several players with experience at this level.
Hayles is one of them and after a two-year stint at Bristol City Womeb where she scored over 20 goals in the Championship, and the former England youth international has lofty ambitious heading into her first season on Tyneside.
"I've played in the Championship two times now and had two successful seasons," Hayles told newcastleunited.com.
"For me, I'm always looking to do better and I definitely want to be hitting double figures again and hopefully we can achieve great things here.
"The Championship gets better each season and there are some amazing players in it, so I know it's going to be difficult but I think with a good team and all of us working together, we can attack it."
With Newcastle being a one-club city, its passionate fans are known up and down the country, although it's sometimes difficult to grasp just how crucial football is in the North East.
United's new striker certainly found out very quickly, even before her first day back in pre-season training.
"I feel like everyone living in Newcastle supports Newcastle which is just amazing," Hayles said.
"I've already asked a few people (who they support) which was silly of me because they all said Newcastle and that's just how it is.
"I'm excited to see the fans and it’s lovely to have a fanbase like this. Hopefully, one day we can get a sold-out St. James' Park which would be amazing.
"I've only been here a few days because I tried to spend as much time as possible with my family but where I'm living is lovely. It seems like a really nice city and everyone is lovely no matter where you go."
Newcastle have recruited players with both Women's Super League and Championship experience and Hayles explained: "We've only had a few training sessions so far but I think with a lot of senior players and ones who've played at this level before or even higher, have been driving up the standards.
"It's nice to be a part of it because you've got to train how you want to play on a Sunday, because at the end of the day, this is our preparation time and it all comes down to the weekend.
"Every game counts in the Championship, so I think it's key we carry on driving up the standards and that everyone brings something to the team."
Newcastle United Women will host Italian side AC Milan Women in the highly anticipated Sela Weekender at St. James' Park on Saturday, 10th August. Tickets for the weekend - which also include Newcastle United's men's team games against Stade Brestois and La Liga outfit Girona - are on sale here.
