Tony Harrington will referee Newcastle United's midweek Premier League clash with Everton at St. James' Park

The Magpies are back in action three days on from their magnificent 4-3 comeback victory over West Ham on Tyneside and they will be hoping for a similar result against the Toffees, with Harrington set to oversee proceedings under the lights.

Harrington, whose grandfather played for Hartlepool United, has taken charge of a number of United games in previous seasons but the clash with Sean Dyche's men will be his first involving Eddie Howe's men this term.

In 2023/24 so far, he has split his time between the Championship and Premier League, and has also refereed in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Harrington became a Select Group 1 official in 2021, with his top flight debut coming in December that year.

Harrington, who began his refereeing journey in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance, also oversaw Newcastle's home game against Everton last season - a 1-0 win for the Magpies in October 2022, in which he booked six players including Fabian Schär and Joelinton.
