Four goals were netted inside an eventful opening half-hour at the Gateshead International Stadium, with strikes from Alfie Harrison and Josh Donaldson both cancelled out by respective efforts from Jovan Malcolm and Callum Tripp.
Kuol's penalty in the closing stages of the Group C clash fired the young Magpies ahead before Darren Palmer's header from the Australia international's cross proved crucial as Diarmuid O'Carroll's side ultimately topped their group via goal difference.
The 20-year-old, who represented his country at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar, told newcastleunited.com: "I thought the boys played well and it's a reflection of the hard work the lads put in for weeks. We need to keep building and, hopefully, keep winning in this competition.
"I feel I could've scored more tonight but I just want to keep working and training hard. Hopefully, more chances will come and I find that consistency of hitting the back of the net.
"It feels very good to be training consistently and I feel this has been a very important period for me, physically developing. As an attacking player, you're wanting to be scoring or assisting in matches to help the team and, ultimately, that's my goal. I want to help the team as much as possible and keep finding confidence in front of goal."
Kuol, who officially joined United from A-League Men side Central Coast Mariners in January 2023, netted his first goal for the Magpies at under-21 level during last week's 4-2 defeat at Southampton in the Premier League 2 and revealed he is in a positive frame of mind after sustaining a quad injury in the opening stages of the current campaign.
The Cairo-born youngster, who spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Eerste Divisie side Volendam, is determined to build on his work off the pitch after an unfortunate stint on the sidelines.
Kuol, the youngest player to feature in a FIFA World Cup knockout match since Pelé in 1958, added: "It's been a long period without playing much and, behind the scenes, I've been working really hard in training so, as I'm slowly coming back into matchday rhythm, I want to keep building that fitness to be able to keep running forward, helping the team make options and getting into positions to score.
"I feel I'm in a happy place right now. A big shoutout to the coaching staff around the under-21s as they've given me a lot of confidence in training, which I find enjoyable.
"I can feel myself getting fitter and more consistent everyday. I feel as strong and fit as I've ever been, (playing) back-to-back 90 minute matches in the space of five days which I haven't done for a very long time."
