The Australian official has been appointed for the fixture as Eddie Howe's men look to book their place in the last four of the competition, with another final appearance the goal for the Magpies.

And 37-year-old Gillett will be taking charge of his first game involving Newcastle this season when he steps out at Stamford Bridge, though he did referee four games involving United across last term - and Howe's men did not lose any of them.

So far this term, the former A-League official - whose first top flight appointment was a 1-1 draw between Watford and Newcastle in September 2021 - has refereed games in the Premier League, Championship, Carabao Cup and Europa Conference League, and has already issued more red cards in 2023/24 (three) than he did in 27 games last season.
