The Magpies fell behind in the early stages through Callum Hudson-Odoi's strike before netting four times in the space of 11 first half minutes, with quick-fire goals from Lewis Miley and Jacob Murphy turning the league clash in the hosts' favour before Alexander Isak's brace, reaching a half-century of Premier League strikes in the process, gave United a commanding advantage at the half-time break.

Forest set up a nervy finale, though, after goals from Nikola Milenković and Ryan Yates but Eddie Howe's side were able to see out the contest to record a much-needed victory, moving into fifth place of the English top-flight.
