Darren England will be the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League visit of West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm GMT).

Steve Bruce's side are set for a return to competitive action when they host the Baggies at St. James' Park and this will be the first time the Doncaster-born referee has officiated an English top-flight fixture involving the Magpies.

England was the man in the middle for Newcastle's Carabao Cup defeat against Nottingham Forest back in August 2017 in which United suffered a 3-2 home defeat after extra-time.

The 35-year-old booked three players during the second round tie, including former Newcastle defender Grant Hanley.

In the eight games England has refereed so far this term, across the Premier League, Championship and Carabao Cup, he has shown a total of 23 yellow cards and one red.

On Saturday, England will be assisted by Adrian Holmes and James Mainwaring, while Martin Atkinson will be the fourth official.

Anthony Taylor will be the video assistant referee at Stockley Park and will be aided by Gary Beswick.
