Newcastle United's Carabao Cup quarter-final tie at Brentford will be played on Tuesday, 22nd December

The match will kick off at 5.30pm (GMT) and will be televised live on Sky Sports. Unfortunately, the game will be played behind closed doors.

It will be the Magpies' first ever visit to the new 17,250-capacity Brentford Community Stadium, less than a mile away from their former Griffin Park home. It will also be the Bees' first ever League Cup quarter-final.

Thomas Frank's side - losing finalists in the Championship play-offs last season - beat Fulham 3-0 in the fourth round. They had already knocked out Premier League sides Southampton, who they beat 2-0 at St. Mary's, and West Bromwich Albion, who lost 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns. They got past Wycombe Wanderers in the first round, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The Magpies booked their place in the last eight with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory at Newport County in September, after a 1-1 draw in normal time at Rodney Parade. Steve Bruce's men have also beaten Blackburn Rovers (1-0) and Morecambe (7-0) in the second and third round respectively.

United have met Brentford once before the League Cup. A second round tie at St. James' Park in September 2001 ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, before Craig Bellamy scored a hat-trick in extra time to give the Magpies a 4-1 victory.
