United are set to face off against London City Lionesses on Sunday as they kick off their debut campaign at this level and Cataldo knows all about the challenges that await in the second tier.
The 23-year-old impressed on the left-hand side of defence last year, racking up four clean sheets in ten appearances following her debut against Wolves Women and helping the Magpies to lift the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division title, but is now targeting her first goal in black and white.
"This season I'm hoping to have a bigger impact on games higher up the pitch," Peterborough-born Cataldo admitted.
"So instead of just doing my defensive work, I'm looking to get up the pitch more and support the wingers.
"Hopefully I can chip in with a few assists and I'm still looking for my first goal, although I'll always thrive off getting clean sheets. It's been a while but maybe I can tick my first goal off this season."
Cataldo is already a Championship winner from her time at Bristol City Women, so knows what is required to reach the summit of England's second tier.
A regular under Becky Langley following her arrival from Crystal Palace Women in January, she insists never thought twice about her decision to move up north.
"I didn't see it as a drop-down when I joined," Cataldo told newcastleunited.com.
"I came in with experiences while also being fairly young, so I just wanted to help the team reach where we are now.
"We're going to be coming up against tougher opponents this season and the quality of football goes up a notch in the Championship."
Newcastle's opening game of the season will be streamed live on YouTube and the team will play three league games at St. James' Park this term.
That sort of exposure means more focus will be on United than ever, but Cataldo refuses to let anything distract them from the task at hand.
"There will be a lot of eyes on us this season," Cataldo said. "We can only control what we do in camp and out on the pitch.
"Becky always says that, as a team, our number one priority is that our work rate and if we've got that - which we do - I think we'll do well this season."
"We've got a lot of quality in our team and the new players have added a bit of extra quality to the squad."
