Long-time Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson has seen things change a lot around the club since he signed in 2020.

The 33-year-old has been involved in a transformation that has included seeing Newcastle United end a lengthy domestic trophy drought.

"It's been fantastic, it's nice to bring good times to the fans. They deserve it, as players we deserve it.

"It's nice that we're on a nice run at the moment in the league. As long as it continues, everyone's happy.

"When it starts dipping is when we all need to stick together even more so."

Wilson joined Newcastle after from Bournemouth and has been important in the clubs transformation.

"I joined, I think it's five years ago in September. It's a long time.

"The transition of the club, the atmosphere around the city until now. I think I remember calling it a sleeping giant with a dark cloud around it. That's well and truly gone, the suns even out now. Times are changing.

"Long may it continue."

Wilson has a great goalscoring record for Newcastle, with his 49-goals among the likes of Kevin Keegan and is keen to add to his record.

"I have no doubt for myself, when I play I can score goals.

"It's just getting on the pitch, it's just limited game time. Alex (Isak) has been fantastic, so it's just hard to get back in the team.

"It's difficult but you've got to take what you can."
