Ahead of Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm GMT), we take a look at some of the Magpies' best away victories against the Foxes...

Pérez's delightful lob (2017/18)

The Magpies earned an impressive 2-1 victory at the King Power Stadium in April 2018, with Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Pérez netting for United as they battled towards their third successive Premier League win.

Shelvey opened the scoring after placing the ball home from the edge of the penalty area, his first Premier League goal for Newcastle, before a moment of brilliance from Pérez doubled United's lead as the Spaniard caught out the Leicester defence on the counter before executing a perfect lob over goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Despite Jamie Vardy's late goal, United held on to move ten points clear of the relegation zone and into tenth place, claiming their first win at Leicester in 18 years.

Another Ayoze winner (2018/19)

Just like their previous visit, United were victorious once again in the East Midlands as Ayoze Pérez's first-half header secured an important 1-0 win back in April 2019.

The visitors almost took the lead in spectacular fashion as Salomon Rondón's long-range free-kick struck the crossbar but were rewarded just after the half-hour mark as Pérez, who would join the Foxes the following summer, rose from Matt Ritchie's accurate cross to glance a fine header past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The hosts dominated the large majority of possession but were restricted in front of goal as Newcastle battled throughout the 90 minutes to achieve a precious away win, moving ten points clear of the relegation zone in the process.

A four-midable display at the King Power (2020/21)

The Magpies produced an impressive away display in their recent trip to the King Power Stadium in May as they claimed a 4-2 victory against Brendan Rodgers' Champions League chasing Foxes.

United netted twice in the opening half as loanee Joe Willock, who would complete a permanent move to St. James' Park the following campaign, continued his fine goalscoring form after netting in his fifth consecutive Premier League match before Paul Dummett's header, the defender's first goal since 2016, doubled the visitors' lead.

Callum Wilson's second-half brace extended Newcastle's advantage further to eventually wrap up maximum points despite late strikes from Marc Albrighton and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Newcastle begin season in style (1994/95)

Kevin Keegan's side began their Premier League campaign in strong fashion with a 3-1 win against the Foxes on the opening day of the 1994/95 season.

Andy Cole, Peter Beardsley and Robbie Elliott all found the target with second half strikes although Newcastle were reduced to ten men as goalkeeper Pavel Srnìček received a red card in the closing stages of the contest.

The Magpies made an electric start to their league campaign - their best start to any top division season in the club's history - after scoring 22 goals in their opening six league matches to go top of the table.

Stoppage-time drama as Newcastle avoid relegation (1991/92)

The Magpies narrowly survived relegation to the third tier of English football after a 2-1 win at Filbert Street, with two goals scored in the dying stages.

United had just climbed out of the relegation zone after a crucial 1-0 triumph over Portsmouth, courtesy of David Kelly's winning goal, and survival looked likely as Newcastle's Gavin Peacock broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.

However, Steve Walsh's 89th minute equaliser left the Magpies hoping results elsewhere would go in their favour, with Brighton and Plymouth requiring wins to avoid the drop.

There was still time for another late goal, though, as United sealed the win, with Walsh then putting the ball into his own net to gift Keegan's men maximum points and ensure their league status in the Second Division.
