Ahead of Newcastle United's final Premier League clash of the season against Fulham on Sunday (kick-off 4pm BST), we take a look at some of the Magpies' memorable victories over the Cottagers...

Kluivert and Shola combine (2004/05)

The Magpies sealed their first away Premier League win since November with a comfortable 3-1 victory in West London towards the end of the 2004/05 campaign.

Newcastle, facing a Fulham side involving ex-players Lee Clark and Andy Cole, had suffered exits in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals and FA Cup semi-finals and were on a winless run of seven matches but opened the scoring through Darren Ambrose's low finish.

Even without Alan Shearer in attack, United were relentless in front of goal and extended their lead further in the second-half as strikes from forwards Patrick Kluivert and Shola Ameobi sealed a strong victory despite Tomasz Radzinski's late consolation.

Shelvey's stunner in final day thrashing (2018/19)

Newcastle ended their 2018/19 campaign in style following an emphatic 4-0 win against Scott Parker's relegated Cottagers back in May 2019.

The Magpies got off to a flying start at Craven Cottage, netting twice in two first-half minutes courtesy of Jonjo Shelvey's thunderous half-volley from the edge of the penalty area and Ayoze Pérez's close-range rebound, the Spaniard's 13th goal of the season.

Fabian Schär nodded home United's third of the afternoon after the hour mark before Salomón Rondón added further gloss to the scoreline in the dying stages with a neat finish from a tight angle.

Shear brilliance stuns Fulham (2003/04)

Newcastle produced a brilliant comeback as the Magpies came from two goals down to defeat Fulham 3-2 despite an alarming start at Loftus Road.

With the game hosted at QPR's ground due to a groundshare while Craven Cottage was rebuilt, Lee Clark, who spent ten years at Newcastle, broke the deadlock against his boyhood club in the sixth minute.

Another ex-United player, Louis Saha, doubled the home side's advantage two minutes later before United captain, Alan Shearer, sparked the fightback as the prolific forward assisted Newcastle winger Laurent Robert, who halved the deficit with an impressive half-volley.

Shearer then got onto the scoresheet six minutes into the second half by netting his fourth penalty of the season in the opening nine league matches before the homegrown striker grabbed the winner with a thunderous close-range effort which flew into the roof of the net, sealing a third Premier League win in a row for Sir Bobby Robson's side.

Barton's last minute penalty (2007/08)

Newcastle completed a dramatic 1-0 win over Fulham courtesy of Joey Barton's stoppage-time penalty, his first goal for the club.

Prior to the away clash, United achieved a 2-1 win over Birmingham City, with defender Habib Beye also scoring an injury time winner at St. James' Park - his first and only goal for the Magpies.

After Alan Smith was brought down in the box, Barton was handed the responsibility of sealing back-to-back Premier League wins and the central midfielder delivered with a clinical penalty.

More late drama (2012/13)

Papiss Cissé was the hero at St. James' Park as the Senegalese forward's stoppage-time winner sealed a dramatic 1-0 win for the Magpies, crucially moving five points clear of the relegation zone.

It looked as if Alan Pardew's side were heading towards a goalless draw against Martin Jol's Cottagers, with Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran both hitting the woodwork for the hosts.

With full-time swiftly approaching, Cissé, who had scored last minute winners against Stoke City and Anzhi Makhachkala in recent weeks, controlled Yohan Cabaye's pass before drilling the ball beyond Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer to hand United maximum points.
