Newcastle United can announce the results of its Away Ticketing Access and Operations Survey, which received responses from more than 7,000 supporters this summer.

Over the last 12 months, the club has commissioned a series of surveys, alongside supporter consultation workshops, helping to identify ways in which it can enhance fan engagement, products, processes and services.

Season ticket holders were invited to complete the Away Ticketing Access and Operations Survey in June, and the results have subsequently been presented to the club’s Fan Advisory Board.

The survey looked at a range of topics such as loyalty points and the distribution of tickets, as well as allowing for additional feedback from supporters.

Based on the results, and with the ambition of further enhancing the away day experience for fans, the following processes can be confirmed for the 2024/25 season:

Process for 2024-25 Away Ticketing

Away Ticket Sales

The majority of respondents were in favour of the current loyalty system which will remain unchanged. Loyalty points thresholds will descend on designated dates, with a ballot for eligible season ticket holders under the final points threshold. Ticketing information and purchases can be found/made HERE.

Loyalty Points

Loyalty points will only be applied once data from the away club has provided verification that the ticket was scanned into the stadium. This process was supported by more than 80% of supporters who completed the survey. If a ticket is not scanned, no loyalty point will be awarded.

Ticket Spot Checks

Spot checks will continue at away grounds to ensure supporters with eligibility have their priority access protected. 54% of respondents supported ticket checks.

Further consultation will take place around the method for spot checks to ensure as many season ticket holders as possible, including those whose preference was to revert to no checks, can provide further feedback. This will support the club’s operations so that any potential inconvenience is minimised.

Away Ticket Transfers

Given the positive response to the concept of a ticket transfer mechanism for away tickets, the club will consult further around operational delivery of this option to fans.

In case of emergency, the majority of fans indicated that they would like to be able to transfer their ticket to a linked family member, or friend, up to two times per season.

Ticket Cancellations

Season ticket holders are reminded that if they secure an away match ticket, and know they cannot attend the game up to 72 hours before the fixture, they should advise the Box Office. This means a refund can be processed, and the ticket can be reallocated to the next eligible season ticket holder from the official ballot.

The club will continue to engage with fans on ticketing throughout the season, with further information communicated following further consultation.
